The Taj Mahal building is located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It represents one of the most notable artistic achievements that Agra can boast of through the perfect harmony and excellent craftsmanship used in making the architectural style a masterpiece.

The construction of the ivory-white and Islamic marble mausoleum started in 1632 AD till 1648 AD and was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

It is a perfectly symmetrical gem of Muslim art in India, with an exterior reflecting long pools of water, a red sandstone gate, and semi-precious inlaid stones! The best time to tour the Taj Mahal is during the summer, and don’t forget to catch the sunset descending beautifully on the building.

Unsurprisingly, over ten million people visit the Great Wall of China every year. It is China’s most recognizable symbol as it is over 2,300 years old with a complete route of over 20,000 km, stretching from the east seaside to the west desert in Northern China.

It’s interesting to know that it’s not just a wall but a series of fortifications. It includes barriers, barracks, garrison stations and fortresses that wing up and down the mountains to form a defense system.

The most visited sections of the wall are the Mutianyu and Jinshanling. It’d be safe to know that each division requires its own entry ticket. (You’re welcome!)

3. Neuschwanstein Castle:

If you’re a fan of Disney World, there is a chance that you might experience a feeling of déjà-vu once you see the Neuschwanstein castle. King Ludwig II originally built the castle in Bavaria, Germany.

Still, it became an inspiration for Walt Disney’s Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty Castles after the sad ending of the king.

The Neuschwanstein castle, which translates to the New Swan Stone Castle, was opened to the public after his sudden death.

It is perched on top of a tall hill and not too remote for a visit that won’t take much of your day.

4. The Pyramids Of Giza:

It is said that the pyramids built Egypt and not the other way around. For more than 3,800 years, the Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world. Pharaoh Khufu began the Giza project, and it was initially standing at 481 feet before being lowered to 454.4 feet.

Pharaoh Khafre, Khufu’s son, and Pharaoh Menkaure built the second and third pyramids at Giza. Menkaure’s own is considerably smaller than the rest.

Till today, scientists are not sure about how the ancient pyramids were built & it’s more reason why you should check out this impressive engineering success.

5. Petra – The Lost City:

Petra is located in Jordan, and it’s one of the oldest cities in the world because it is speculated to have existed since 312 BC. It’s great for hiking if you want to have the best views of parts ranging from the Treasury, the Theatre, the Great Temple, and the Royal Tombs, which have many large tombs carved into the mountain with impressive facades.

If you eventually visit Petra, get there first thing in the morning to have the place to yourself and take an Instagram-worthy picture standing in the treasury’s doorway; that should surely make it to the explore page!

6. Acropolis Of Athens:

Situated in Greece, the Acropolis has been many things, including home to past kings, a citadel, mythical houses for the gods, a religious center, and most recently, a tourist center.

Lastly, there are a lot more historical places you could travel to, but we do hope that this article has inspired you enough to pack your bags for a fun & fantastic trip. I’d love to hear the place that got your attention the most!
